Information Technology Education |
|
In March 2002, Foshan Government began to build up the second project
of education Information, which included the data base management
system center, the network of a digitalized school, teacher training
and the website of education information resources. |
 |
|
So far the Data Base Management System Center has been completed, and
some constructions of the network of a digitalized school have been
finished. The education administration system and school
administration system have been established, too. Using the project,
we have held 376 different kinds of training classes for teaching
method designs and information technique training, and more than 1510
teachers have taken part in the training classes which were held by
the province. |
 |
Foshan is a pilot city of building up the network of digitalized
schools for school management and teaching communications in Guangdong
Province. Now more than 500 schools have opened up the network of
digitalized schools in Foshan, and over 200 schools have set up their
own webs. There are 68000 computers in the middle schools and primary
schools of the city. It means that the average of the number of the
students and the computers is 12 to 1. |
The website of Foshan education information resources has been built
up. Most of the resources of the website including every subject of a
middle school and a primary school were directed and created by the
teaching researchers and the teachers in the city, and other good
resources will be bought continuously from some companies. The website
can offer lots of new information for the teachers and the students in
teaching, learning and researching.
Computer and information technique have become a
required course in the middle schools and primary schools. All the
students of the junior middle schools and the students of Grade One
and Two in the senior middle schools have started to have two classes
a week and so have 80% of the pupils from Grade Three to Six in the
primary schools.
In order to start the course of computer and
information technique, Foshan Education Bureau organized some teachers
to write a set of teaching books of information technology for primary
and middle schools. These books have been published and used now, and
they are highly appreciated by the experts.
Foshan Education Information Website was given the
prize of ¡± Ten Best Websites¡± in the city.
Foshan Education Bureau was designated a model unit for
informatization by the provincial government.
The achievements of Foshan education informatization
have been greatly praised by nearly 100 delegations from different
parts of the country.
